CEFR scores and levels: how Multilevel is marked
In the Multilevel exam each section is scored on its own, then the four scores are combined into one CEFR level. Below: the scoring system, the level cut-offs and a calculator for your own scores.
Facts checked on: October 29, 2026
Each section: 0 to 75
Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking each get 0 to 75. In Listening and Reading, the number of correct answers is converted to the 0–75 scale. The conversion table is different for each test version, so the same number of correct answers can give a slightly different score on another version. Every section is reported on the 0–75 scale.
CEFR levels
Your level comes from the average of the four section scores:
| Level | Average score |
|---|---|
| C1 | 65–75 |
| B2 | 51–64 |
| B1 | 38–50 |
| Below 38 | No certificate |
There is no C2 — the top level is C1. Example: Listening 58, Reading 61, Writing 47, Speaking 54. The average is 55, so B2. On its own, 47 in Writing would be B1, but the level is given for the average, not per section.
Work out your score
The calculator rounds the average to a whole number. Karvon's mock results are worked out the same way, and they are estimated — only UZBMB gives an official result.
CEFR or IELTS?
Multilevel is a national exam, meant for study and work in Uzbekistan. IELTS is international and is what you are usually asked for to study, work or move abroad. Choose by where you are applying.
Many people search for IELTS to CEFR, hoping to turn one score into the other. But these are two different exams with different scales: Multilevel 0–75, IELTS 0–9. Ask the university or employer which certificate and which score they need.
Common questions
What score do I need for a certificate?
The average of the four sections must be at least 38 — that is B1. Below 38, no certificate is given.
Can I get C2 in Multilevel?
No. The top level in this exam is C1, which needs an average of 65–75.
If one section is weak, does my level drop?
The level comes from the average, so a weak section pulls it down, but strong sections can lift it back up.
Why does the same number of correct answers give different scores?
In Listening and Reading the conversion to 0–75 is different for each test version. So the same result can give a slightly different score on different versions.
Is my Karvon level official?
No, it is estimated. It shows how ready you are, but it does not replace the official result.
