Frequently asked questions

The questions we get most often about the platform, AI grading, payment and data security. Can't find your answer — write to us.

About the platform

What is Karvon, and who is it for?

Karvon is an online IELTS preparation platform for students in Uzbekistan: drills, mock tests, AI grading for Writing (Speaking coming soon), an AI tutor, and progress tracking in one place.

Is it for Academic or General Training?

Both, with one caveat. You pick the format on your Account page: Academic gives you a chart-description Writing Task 1, General gives you letter writing. Task 2, Listening and Speaking are identical in both. Reading passages are still Academic-style — General-specific texts (notices, workplace documents) are in progress.

Where should I start?

Take the diagnostic test right after signing up — it takes 25 minutes and estimates your current level across all four skills. After that, your dashboard shows a daily plan.

Can I use it in Russian or English?

Yes — the site and app are available in Uzbek, Russian and English. Pick your language at the top of the page; AI feedback comes back in the same language.

Does it work on a phone? Is there an app?

It works fully in the browser on phones and computers. There is no App Store / Play Market app yet — you can add the site to your home screen.

AI grading

How does the AI grade essays?

Your essay is scored on the four IELTS criteria: Task Achievement, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy — each with its own band and specific notes on what to fix.

How close is the AI band to a real exam result?

Usually within about ±0.5 band. It is a practice estimate and does not replace an official result.

How is Speaking graded?

AI grading for Speaking is not switched on yet — coming soon. Once it is, your recording is transcribed first, then scored for fluency, vocabulary, grammar and how well you cover the topic. Pronunciation will have its own trainer (Speaking → Pronunciation): you read a sentence aloud and we show which words weren't recognised. That measures intelligibility, not per-phoneme accuracy.

What if my band comes back low?

Look for the mistake that repeats most often in the feedback and ask the AI tutor about it. On the Writing exemplars page you can read band 5, 6, 7 and 8 essays answering the same prompt, so the difference is visible.

Payment and plans

What does it cost right now?

Everything is free at the moment — paid plans have not launched. Prices will be published on the Pricing page when they do.

Can I pay with Payme or Click?

There is nothing to pay yet — everything is free during the closed beta. We plan to add Payme and Click later.

How do I cancel a subscription?

There are no subscriptions yet, so there is nothing to cancel. The terms of paid plans will be announced before they launch.

Data and security

Where are my essays and recordings stored?

Data is stored on EU servers (Frankfurt). Speaking practice recordings are deleted automatically after 7 days — the transcript and band are kept.

Is my writing used to train AI models?

No. It is processed only to give you a band and feedback, and our AI providers do not use it for model training either.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, yourself. On your Account page, press “Delete account permanently”, type the confirmation word, and your profile, essays, recordings and all results are removed immediately. If anything goes wrong, write to us through the contact form on the site (/contact) or karvon.app@gmail.com.

Technical questions

What happens if a mock test is interrupted?

Your answers are saved — a “Continue” button appears on the dashboard and takes you back to where you stopped.

My microphone doesn't work.

Choose “Allow” when the browser asks for microphone access. If you already blocked it, change the setting from the lock icon in the address bar and reload the page.

I'm not getting reminders.

Check that the notifications toggle on your Account page is on and that notifications aren't blocked in your browser. On iPhone, notifications only work after you add the site to your home screen.
